Retevisión Móvil, S.A. (brand name
“Amena”) is the operating company for
and brand name of Spanish third mobile phone operator, a part of Grupo AUNA,
the Spanish second fixed-line telecom operator.
Amena has national coverage since the commencement of its operation in January
1998. International coverage is guaranteed by more than 257 roaming agreements
in 115 countries (August 2003).
Amena is known for its simple, distinct and innovative products and services.
This approach is the reason for its 7.400.000 customer (August 2003).
Amena is involved in the implementation of new technologies and services specially
those related to Internet, GPRS and UMTS. Amena is one of the UMTS licensed
operators of Spain. The total acumulated investment in UMTS at the end of the
year 2002 was more than 9.919.000 euros.
The investments in GSM and GPRS, at the end of the year 2002 was 2.007 millions
of euros.
Amena is involved in different research activities, some of them funded by the
European Fifth Program Framework. These research projects are related to intelligent
home systems, location services, terminals and services architecture, multimedia
car platform, video streaming services and mobile Internet.
An Innovation Centre including terminal, switching and radio labs and some other
facilities for UMTS testing are available since December 2001.
Role in the project
Amena will participate in the service scenario, business models, pilots services specification, integration and validation of services. The Innovation Centre Labs and test beds will be used to integrate and validate.
Key personnel
Julián HERNANDEZ-MARTINEZ. B. Eng. in Telecommunications (Computers and Electronic Equipment, Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Spain). He has and extensive technical and project management skills on mobile telecom services, including definition, development and deployment in the areas of GSM, GPRS, IN, IVR, USSD, SMS, MMS, WAP, WEB, Location Based, etc. His career till now include the following jobs; Telephony Modem HW developer (1989-1999) in SITRE S.A. Senior Switching SW developer & Switching Consultant (1990-1995), Senior GSM Support Engineer (1995-1998) and GSM Support Team Leader (1998-1999) in Ericsson Radio, S.A. In 1999 he joint AMENA as Switching and New Services Senior Engineer, and since 2001 he works as Innovation Expert Engineer at the Innovation Centre.
