Introduction
Vila Nova de Cerveira is a small town with more than
9000 inhabitants, situated in the region Vale do Minho, at the border to Galiza
(Spain). The town is visited every year by tens of thousands of tourists. The
town hall organises every year local events with tourist interest, including
the Bienal (every two years) for contemporary arts that is of international
importance. The town hall belongs to an association of 6 municipalities that
have been joining their efforts since 1994 in order to coordinate several activities
related to regional development, including the elaboration of a common strategy
for IST. At the moment, the set up of a Portal for the Region is planned and
the concept of sharing a technical platform on a regional basis for the provision
of mobile information services is extremely appealing.
Role
Vila Nova de Cerveira will participate as end-user partner contributing mainly
to the work packages for service scenario description (WP2) and pilot service
specification (WP6) as well as validation (WP9). It will also together with
the Portuguese partners PortugalSpace and UniMinho participate in the preparation
and execution of dissemination activities and provide support to the work carried
out in WP3.
