The main objective of this service is to provide information on healthcare prevention programmes and initiatives in particular for target groups such as young families with babies and elderly people. This should be seen in the particular context of the City of Gdynia and its collaboration with local health centres that aims to increase the public awareness with regard to health prevention and promoted initiatives and reach for this purpose a higher number of citizens (residents as well as non-residents) through mobile means. As the efficiency of current communication means is concerned, it should be highlighted that the new service will be complementary to existing dissemination channels, as information on healthcare programmes is already available on the Internet and in printed form (for the City of Gdynia, in the bulletin of the City Mayor), through which a significant part of the population cannot be reached as efficiently and regularly as desired.

In addition, the Health Care Information Service offers to the mobile user the opportunity to request appointments at the healthcare centre according to his/her needs (medical specialty) and personal preferences (data, time). This generic service feature can of course be easily applied to any sort of appointment (of the citizen) with a particular public service entity (e.g. department of the municipality).
